This is an information request issued to Imperial regarding authorizations it requires now and into closure.
The Northern Participant Funding Program has approved the transfer of remaining participant funding from the Line 490 and the Norman Wells Operations Projects to support participation in the scoping phase of the Closure environmental assessment. This document summarizes the amount of participant funding each organization has access to in 2026-2027.
This Notice of Proceeding describes the Information Requests, upcoming workshops (including proposed dates, and a request for parties to provide comment on the proposed dates), and draft workplan for the closure EA.
The following Information Requests seek clarification regarding roles, responsibilities, land tenure, jurisdiction, and governance arrangements associated with the closure and post-closure phases of the Project. Responses to the IRs will help the Review Board evaluate the adequacy, effectiveness, and durability of mitigation measures and oversight mechanisms, and determine whether potential environmental and socio-economic effects can be appropriately managed over time.
