The project consists of the construction, operation and closure of a 180 km all season access road from the Prairie Creek Mine (km 0) to the Liard Hwy (km 180). The route is currently winter only but has not been used since 1982. There are some realigned sections from the winter road. All season road construction is proposed over 3 years, with an operating life of 17 years followed by road closure and reclamation. Km 17 to 100 are in Nahanni National Park Reserve with the balance on territorial lands and a small segment on federal land.
