Imperial Oil's applications to the Canada Energy Regulator and the Sahtu Land and Water Board for the Norman Wells Operations was referred to environmental assessment by the Sahtu Secreteriat Inc. This referral includes the entire Norman Wells Operations (NWO), in Norman Wells, NT, for the next five to ten years (2024-2034), which is the expected remaining operating life of the field, and allow for sufficient time for engagement and permitting a transition to closure of the facility.

The Review Board held an information session on Aug 28 for the technical scoping sessions on Sept 16-18. The note to file provides a summary of the meeting and the Board's presentation is attached. 

The Review Board will host a meeting on Thursday, August 28, 1:30 to 3:30 pm, to describe the technical scoping session, ask parties what topics they are interested in addressing at the scoping session and discuss logistics.

The Review Board will host community scoping sessions in September including:

  • Tulít’a on Tuesday Sept 9
  • Délı̨nę on Wednesday Sept 10
  • Tsiigehtshic on Thursday Sept 25
  • Inuvik on Friday Sept 26

The Review Board will also host a technical scoping session in Yellowknife on Sept 16 – 18.
